Public Datasets

The ComStock datasets describe the timeseries and annual energy consumption of the U.S. commercial building stock at the end-use level. For more details about data access platforms, structure and contents, visit our user resource website.

The ComStock GitHub repository contains the source code used to build and execute ComStock models, including upgrade scenarios. In addition, the sampling of building characteristics used for the initial ComStock (V1.0) release is provided. The ComStock model is under active calibration and development, which is publicly visible on this repository.

Visit the Data Viewer links to access the Data Viewer where you can view the data in customizable time scales and aggregations.
The Open Energy Data Initiative (OEDI) link will take you to folders on OEDI that contain metadata files with individual model characteristics, annual results, pre-aggregated timeseries .csv files for different geographies, weather data in .csv format, geographic information, OpenStudio building energy models, and a data dictionary and enumerations dictionary defining all data fields and parameter options.

Dataset Notices

Two packages in ComStock 2025 Release 2 were mislabeled. For more information, please see the known issue documentation.

All weather files for the state of Hawaii appear incorrect in ComStock 2025 Release 2 - 2012 Weather. We do not recommend using this release for analysis in Hawaii. See the known issue documentation for more information.

UPDATE: The previous PUMA-level datasets are under maintenance due to updates to support December 2024 release PUMA datasets.
